Warm Up Activities

Part of any productive relationships including the one you have with your body  is communication.

Many misunderstandings are associated with the concept of warm up. Warming your body up is preparing a gateway to your workouts and sports activities, it sets the tone of your workouts. The safety, the effectiveness, the results of your workouts and how you feel during them is set during your warm up.

Think of your warm up routine as a freeway ramp, your normal daily activities as street traffic and your exercise routine as freeway traffic. An effective warm up plan provides a systematic way for you to increase your body’s activity speed to safely merge with your exercise or sports routine.

Regardless of how many others engage in similar activities as you, both your normal daily activities, your exercise activities and your sports activities are unique to you. Your awareness of yourself and your motions allows you to make necessary modifications to customize your warm up for yourself.

These modifications are similar to making hand adjustments on the wheel of your car or changing gears while you stay on the ramp. Many extend the process of adjustments too far and destroy the integrity of their warm up program and suffer for it.
